Grow with MURA

Something can start here.

A house, someone who knows how to do something, someone who wants to learn and someone who wants to help. Tell us your story and we'll work out together what could be built with it.

01Your starting point

You don't need to have it all to start.

With money to invest or nothing for now: every case has its own path.
  1. 01

    I have a space

A house, an apartment, a spare room or an empty shop. You might want extra income, to host travellers or simply company, without losing your privacy or your routines.

    Start here
  2. 02

    I have a talent

You cook, paint, sew, teach or fix things. We look at whether someone would pay for it and how to start small.

    Start here
  3. 03

I want to learn a trade

Preparing homes, maintenance, cooking, admin or looking after guests, alongside someone who already knows how.

    Start here
  4. 04

    I want to help

No house or trade to offer, but you live near a hospital or the centre, have a car for tours or transfers, know people in your neighbourhood or can hand out flyers.

02How it works

First, we listen.

  1. 01

    You tell us your story

You fill in the form in a few minutes: who you are, what you have and what you'd like to happen.

  2. 02

    We read it

A person from MURA reviews every case. No automatic replies.

  3. 03

    We propose a path

We give you real options. Sometimes the answer is “not yet” or “not like this”, and we'll say so.

  4. 04

If it makes sense, we start

We put together a plan in stages. Anything that has a cost is agreed in writing before we start.

03How we work

Clear rules from the start.

  • Your account is yours

You open your MURA, Airbnb or Booking account in your own name, and we help you set it up. The listing, the reviews and the booking money are yours.

  • We help with tax registration

We help you get your RFC and choose the simplest regime to start small, such as the digital-platforms regime, where the platform withholds your taxes. For your tax returns we recommend an accountant.

  • Joint management

You bring the house, your trade or your time; MURA brings the method, the operation and the backing. Big decisions are made together.

  • With or without money to invest

If you can invest, we budget in stages. If not, we start with what's already there: sometimes a room, sometimes a service.

  • Everyone wins

If MURA manages your bookings, it takes a percentage of each payment. The percentage and what it includes are agreed in writing.

  • Visits and technical staff

When your home needs a visit, it has a cost you know beforehand, or we send trained technical staff.

  • MURA catalogue

Hotel-quality beds, mattresses and linen in Amazon lists. You buy in your name, it's delivered to you and the warranty is yours.

  • Protecting your home · being prepared

We're looking for an insurance partner for mandatory home insurance: we look after your home, and you look after your neighbours'. When it exists, you'll see here what it covers and who backs it.

04Ideas we're exploring

Every house can be a different project.

These are ideas to inspire you, not projects already running.
  • A family home that welcomes guests

Whoever lives there welcomes guests and shares the neighbourhood; the grandchildren prepare the rooms; the beds are hotel-quality.

  • A chef's kitchen

Meals to order and shared tables, with young people learning cooking, buying and service.

  • Near a hospital

An affordable place where companions can rest, shower, do laundry and eat.

  • A seamstress's workshop

Alterations and linen repairs for other houses in the network.

05MURA Angel · being prepared

Together, María's house.

An example to explain the idea: María isn't a real case and the figures are illustrative.
  1. 01

    The house needs $100,000

María wants to adapt her home to host guests. The staged budget, reviewed with MURA, adds up to $100,000 MXN in improvements.

  2. 02

    María puts in $25,000

She invests what she has. Angels could put in the rest: family, friends, neighbours or anyone who wants to see her home succeed.

  3. 03

    Every peso, in writing

Each angel would know how much they put in and what share is theirs. Clear from the start, no fine print.

  4. 04

    María buys her house back

As the house earns, María can buy those shares back until the project is hers alone again.

For now we don't take money or offer investments. We're preparing the scheme with legal advice so it's done as the law requires; when it exists, you'll see here how it works and who backs it.

06Help us spread the word

Know someone this could help?

Share this page. If you'd like to hand out flyers in your neighbourhood, tick it in the form and we'll send them to you.

To be clear

  • We review every story; not all become projects, and we'll tell you why.
  • We don't promise income: we give ranges with their source.
  • Technical work is done by professionals; learners work alongside them.
  • You can learn a trade with MURA from age 18.
07Your story

We read you. We hear you.

Write to us about what you have, what you know or what you'd like to do. A person at MURA reads every story and gets back to you.
